93 Points | SIRMIAN Pinot Bianco 2018
The 2018 Sirmian Pinot Bianco from Nals Margreid is intense and pungent, but in the best possible way. Wild herbs, lemon peels, and ginger give way to ripe melon and yellow apple. It’s rich yet full of energy, silky in texture with gorgeous inner sweetness to its white orchard fruits, as subtle minerality slowly settles in. Long, juicy and fruity, yet this displays so much depth, complexity and the ability to mature over the medium term.

93 Points | BARON SALVADORI Chardonnay Riserva 2017
The 2017 Chardonnay Baron Salvadori Riserva from Nals Margreid is quite restrained in the glass. With coaxing notes of white peach and honeysuckle, orange blossom and vanilla bean come forward to form an understated yet remarkable pretty bouquet. It's silky in texture over a medium-bodied frame with flavors of ripe yellow apple and pear which are offset by stimulating acids and salty minerals. Hints of butterscotch mix with orange citrus on the structured and tension-filled finale, with just a hint of subtle oak lingering. There’s wonderful balance to be found in this highly enjoyable Chardonnay that should excel over the medium-term within our cellars.

93 Points | MANTELE Sauvignon 2018
The 2018 Sauvignon Mantele from Nals Margreid is remarkably fresh and energetic for a Sauvignon matured in large oak casks. Peppery herbs, crushed stone pungent florals, sage and zests of lime form up the dramatic bouquet. It’s silky-smooth, strutting a notable density of primary fruit, which is quickly firmed up by stimulating citrus-infused acids. Sweet spice, orange zests and minerals last for nearly a minute. This is a truly stunning Sauvignon that can be enjoyed today or placed in your cellar for five years or more.
93 Points | BARONESSE Moscato Giallo Passito 2018
The 2018 Baronesse Moscato Giallo is produced using the passito process (drying of the grapes to intensify sugar while reducing their water content). Here I’m finding a surprisingly fresh and floral expression, leading off with yellow flowers which give way to ripe apples with sweet spice and underpinnings of white pepper. It’s creamy in feel yet cool-toned in nature, with ripe ambrosia peach and pear offset by savory herbal tones and salty tension. Hints of brown sugar and cinnamon linger. The contrasts found here really tempt the imagination, and while this is quite obviously a dessert wine, it never becomes tiring. It’s dangerously delicious.
92 Points | GRIES Lagrein Riserva 2018
The 2018 Lagrein Riserva Gries draws you closer to the glass with a display of musky black cherry, blueberry, rubbed sage and tobacco. It’s much more lifted and agile than you’d expect, impressing more through vibrancy and spicy grip than texture alone. A mix of tart red fruits and minerals penetrate deeply, leaving a coating of round tannins and residual acids to mingle under an air of violet flowers. The 2018 Gries could use a few years of cellaring to show its best, but it can be enjoyed today for the power and primary intensity found within.
91 Points | STEIN Sauvignon 2019
The 2019 Stein Sauvignon from Nals Margreid is remarkably fresh and lifted, while maintaining an intense display of zesty green citrus and wild herbs. Earthy notes of wet stone and smoky minerals develop over time. It is round and soothing in the mouth with a sweeter profile yet still bristling with acid-driven tension and verve. The cheeks pucker with a salty savoriness throughout the long and balanced finale.
91 Points | PUNGGL Pinot Grigio 2019
The 2019 Punggl from Nals Margreid is a wonderfully balanced, rich and yet stimulating young Pinot Grigio. Here I’m finding pungent yellow florals and crushed stone minerality, which blows off to reveal further depths of ripe apple and hints of exotic savory spice. The textures are so silky while maintaining a fresh and stimulating personality through laser beam-like acidity, with salty minerals building toward the finale. It’s perfectly framed and precise with a twang of zesty citrus and sweet inner florals.
90 Points | GALEA Schiava 2019
The 2019 Schiava Galea from Nals Margreid is intense, as a wave of confectionary spice gives way to ripe strawberry and cherry with wild herbal tones and hints of floral undergrowth. It’s silky, enveloping, sapid and sweet, showcasing a host of wild berry fruits which are kept in balance by zesty acids. After the menagerie of extroverted fruit character the Galea closes surprisingly fresh. Readers will be hard-pressed to put this glass down.
