Outstanding architecture, exceptional wines: At the 13th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, the Nals Margreid Winery received an award for tis refurbished and extended building - and also collected the Gambero Rosso award for the best wine in the framework of SpaziodiVino 2010/2012.
At the international Architecture Exhibition in Venice, architecture and enology have been brought together in context of "Le cattedrali del vino", an international competition for architects and wineries. The "bridge builders" - leading members of the Chamber of Architects of Rome and the Italian Gambero Rosso wine guide . chose the winners from amongst the world's new and refurbished wineries build between 2010 and 2012 and the wines produced there. The award for Interior Design went to the architect Markus Scherer, who handled the refurbishment and extensions to the Nals Margreid Winery. The main prize for the best overall concept was awarded to the headquartrs of the D.O. Ribera del Duero wine authority in Spain. The Nals Margreid Winery now exists in a modern look, with a flat cantilevered roof whose lightness defiels its area.The new and refurbished structures also include the traditional vaulted cellar, the cellars for the steel vats and the Barrique cellar,"exlains the winery`s Managing Director Gottfried Pollinger. The South Tyrolean winery also found favor with Gambero Rosso, whose experts tasted the wines of all the refurbished wineries. And the winner from amongst all the nominees for the SpaziodiVino 2010/12 award was - Pinot Bianco Sirmian 2010 from the Nals Margreid Winery.
