South Tyrol’s oldest red grape variety comes with light ruby color and peppery, fruity aromas with notes of cherry and almond. The autochthonous Vernatsch pleases with a balanced body, freshness and a stimulating, fruity finish. An excellent companion for many South Tyrolean dishes as well as fish and white meats.

South Tyrol’s oldest regional red grape variety, the Vernatsch or Schiava, finds its traditional location in St. Magdalena near Bozen (Bolzano). The steep slopes of this vineyard with its porphyry gravel soils are home to the various sub-varieties of the Vernatsch.
